With spring comes an opportunity to clear the clutter, ditch the dirt, and shed the winter blues! While deep cleaning the house may seem overwhelming, Gwen and Lindsey are sharing ways to make the task more manageable – and even enjoyable! Spring into action with these tips from the queens of clean.
1. GET IN THE GROOVE
Our leading Laundresses love this stylish bluetooth speaker to listen to music, a podcast, or audiobook when they get their spring cleaning on! Lindsey loves the Pink Martini station while Gwen prefers French Café to make the time fly.
2. CLEAR THE CLUTTER
If you don’t love it or use it, it’s clutter! Prior to dusting and cleaning, clear space and tackle one room or area at a time with two trash bags or bins, separating donations from garbage.
3. GIVE AND GET
Lindsey teaches her kids the "One In, One Out" Rule. When they get a new toy, it’s time to send an old one to the donation bin. Gently used items are regularly donated to her local church.
4. CURATE A CLEANING KIT
Before you roll up your sleeves, take stock of your cleaning supplies to ensure you have everything you need. Keep an edited, easy-to-maintain cleaning caddy or basin under every sink to maximize efficiency.
5. SKIP THE LINT
Forgo the paper towels—not only are they wasteful, they’ll also leave lint and residue. Check out the ways we use Lint-Free Cleaning Cloths to remove dirt and dust, deodorize surfaces, wipe down windows, and dry dishes.
6. WINDOW OF OPPORTUNITY
The best time to clean windows is on a cloudy day, or in the early morning or evening—heat from direct sunlight can cause streaks to appear.
7. DUST DOWN
When dusting, Gwen always follows the top-to-bottom method. You’ll clean faster by allowing dust, crumbs, and debris to fall onto the floor as you work your way down. Follow by vacuuming after.
8. GET RID OF "BED" THOUGHTS
Flip and steam the mattress and start with fresh sheets. Many organization gurus stress the importance of organizing the storage under your bed – and never storing paperwork there. It’s believed to bring bad vibes and effect sleeping habits.
9. SWITCH UP SCENTS
Lindsey makes laundry enjoyable by switching up the scents for different loads. She uses No. 10 for her sheets, Baby for the kids, and Classic for her husband.
10. REWARD RESULTS
Finally, reward yourself and admire the results of your efforts! To liven up clean spaces, Lindsey likes to light a candle for a fresh finish, while Gwen loves a bright bouquet.
