Got 10 minutes to spare? You’re already 10 steps ahead of pesky, stubborn stains, whether you’ve got a (painfully) vibrant spill on a silk blouse —red wine, anyone?—or an oily salad dressing splatter on your jeans. Ahead, your speedy, brilliant fixes.
For Stains On Everyday Fabrics…
Cotton, linen, denim, and durable synthetics like polyester
Do a disappearing act on yellow or grayish pit stains, wine spills, grass streaks, fruit, coffee, tea, and more with our Stain Solution and All-Purpose Bleach Alternative. Pour a few drops of Stain Solution over the affected areas, then sprinkle ½ capful of white-and-color-safe All-Purpose Bleach Alternative over the liquid to form a mixture. Next, grab your Stain Brush, dip it in some hot water, and work the paste into the fabric. Allow to soak in hot water for at least five minutes or up to 30. (Tip: Add your item to a sink so that the stain is positioned directly beneath the faucet, then turn on the hot water. This will drive the formula deeper into fibers and help break up the stain.)
Grease and oil-based stains like makeup or salad dressing can be banished with a few swipes of our Wash & Stain Bar. Run it under tepid water, then rub our Stain Brush directly over the bar to work it into a lather. Now massage the brush into the stains using gentle, circular motions. Just like we did for color-rich stans, allow to soak in hot water (try our Wash Tub Basin) for five to 30 minutes, then wash with Signature Detergent and a capful of All-Purpose Bleach Alternative.
Tip: Avoid machine drying fabrics if the stain is still present on the fabric. Unsure of whether your stain has lifted? Letting items air dry is your best bet, then repeat the above process as needed.
For Stains On Woolens & Silks…
Plus knits, lace, and delicate synthetics
Our Stain Solution is formulated to remove dye, color, and protein and tannin-based stains on even the most fragile fabrics, so smooth it over the stain with your fingers or a damp Stain Brush. The stain will immediately begin to change in color as the product works to lift it from the fabric. Once satisfied, soak in cool water for five to 30 minutes. After the soak, apply a bit more Stain Solution , then hand or machine wash: Use 1-2 capfuls of Wool & Cashmere Shampoofor woolens and knits or Delicate Wash for silk, lace, and delicate synthetics using a delicate cycle, low spin, and cool water. Line or air dry to finish.
Grease and oil-based stains like makeup on the collar of your favorite wool sweater or a cooking oil splatter on a “dry clean only” top are easily treated using our Wash & Stain Bar! First, run the bar under tepid water and work it directly into the spot. Soak for 5 to 30 minutes in a sink or Wash Tub Basin using cool water. Next, hand or machine wash according to the fabric composition. For wool and cashmere items, use 2 capfuls of the Wool & Cashmere Shampoo and select a cold, delicate wash cycle. For silk and delicates, use 2 capfuls of Delicate Wash and a cold, delicate setting. Always air dry these sensitive fabrics.
Tip: Dry cleaning an item with a stain can actually set the discoloration into the fabric even more. We always recommend using our stain solutions and cleaning at home.
