What Is Cupro Fabric? How Do You Wash It? | Laundress

Pretreat

You can wash cupro fabric, but cupro fabric care requires you to wash according to the instructions below unless the fabric content/care label specifies "viscose" and "dry clean." If the composition is rayon or you are unsure, perform a water test.

Treat stains on your cupro fabric dress with Stain Solution or the Wash & Stain Bar. Focus on susceptible areas such as underarms, necklines, and cuffs for the pretreatment of your cupro clothing. .

Stain Solution is ideal for protein and tannin stains, such as wine, coffee, ink, grass, urine, blood, and old, set-in stains such as pit stains.

Our laundry bar works the material to remove dirt, grease, oil, and makeup from cupro blends.

To remove odor, presoak the item for 30 minutes in cool water mixed with 1/4 cup of Scented Vinegar.

Handwash

Handwashing is always the best and safest method for washing cupro.

Add 2 capfuls or a squirt of Delicate Wash to a washbasin or sink filled with cool water.

Submerge the item and gently agitate the water with your hands to evenly distribute soap. Soak for up to 30 minutes.

Rinse well by running cool water through the item until the water is no longer soapy.

Do not wring. Instead, press the water out of the item.

Machine Wash

Turn the item inside out, and place it in a Mesh Washing Bag.

Select the delicate cycle on the washing machine, and make sure the water temperature is cold and the spin is on low. Cupro will shrink in hot water.

Add the appropriate amount of Delicate Wash according to the machine and load size.

Dry & Finish

Lay the item flat in its natural shape on a drying rack or hang to dry. Do not put it in the dryer!

Cupro does wrinkle, so to remove cupro fabric wrinkles, we recommend steaming for the best and safest finish. To iron, hover over the item using the steam setting, or press using the lowest temperature setting.

To freshen items between wearings, spritz with Delicate Spray.

Store

Do not hang as this will alter the item's shape.

Always store items clean. We recommend storing in a breathable cotton Storage Bag to protect items from bugs.

Storing in plastic encourages yellowing and can trap mildew-causing moisture, a prime environment for bugs.

All techniques are based on textile science. Not all garments perform and react as science would predict.
