How To Wash Lingerie In 5 Steps

Lingerie like silk and lace intimates and bras are not only delicate, but also investment pieces. Support them just like they support you by giving them a deep clean designed just for lingerie using our gentle stain-removal tactics, lingerie detergent, and moves that protect their structures and shapes. Follow the steps below and keep your lingerie looking beautiful for years to come.

Gather These Tools For Washing Lingerie:

Wash & Stain Bar, Wash Tub Basin, Delicate Wash, Mesh Bag Bundle, Jiffy Steamer, Delicate Spray

STEP 1: Sort

Sort bras and intimates by material and structure. Detailed lace, padded push-ups, and supportive underwire or construction should always be washed by hand while non-wire, cotton, and sports intimates can be machine washed. Wash with like colors only.

STEP 2: Treat Stains

Remove stains from body oils, make-up, and skincare products like lotion and self-tanner with our Wash & Stain Bar. Wet the bar and gently work the lather into stain-susceptible straps, underwire, bands, and underwear liners. Always use cold water for treating blood stains.

STEP 3: Handwash

Handwashing is the best and safest method for washing bras, fine lace, and silk fabrics. To handwash lingerie, add 2 capfuls or a squirt of our Delicate Wash to a Wash Tub Basin or sink filled with cool to warm water.

Submerge the item and gently agitate the water with your hands to evenly distribute soap. Soak for up to 30 minutes.

Rinse well by running cool water through the item until the water is no longer soapy. Do not wring. Instead, press the water out of the item.

STEP 4: Or Machine Wash

Strapped for time? When machine washing, fasten bands closed and place in a Mesh Bag Bundle to preserve elasticity and prevent tearing and snagging in the machine. Select the delicate cycle, low spin, and cold water. Next, add the appropriate amount of lingerie wash, we recommend using Delicate Wash according to the machine and load size. This detergent is designed to give delicate fabrics like lingerie a beautiful clean from home, keeping delicate fibers silky smooth and supple.

STEP 5: Air Dry

Hang to dry or lay items flat on a drying rack. Never use the dryer as the high heat will reduce the fabric’s elasticity and moisture-wicking properties.

To remove wrinkles, skip the iron. Steam intimates and fine lingerie for the perfect finish, as needed.

Freshen with Delicate Spray between wearing and washing.

STEP 6: The Perfect Fit

Store bras in their original shape to preserve fit. Short on space? Fold bras one cup into the other, smoothing out lumps or dents to avoid distorting the construction.
