Today’s to-do list, what you’re going to have for breakfast, whether or not you packed the kid’s lunch—there’s a lot you’re likely thinking about in the shower. What’s probably not on your mind? Cleaning your shower curtain liner. Because they’re prone to buildup and funk, it’s important to treat and clean them once a month. Here’s how.

For Fabric Curtains


Step 1: Stain Treat

Remove your curtain from the shower rod. Apply our hardworking Stain Solution to pretreat areas with grime, stains, and buildup. For heavy stains, soak for 30 minutes prior to washing or run a pre-soak cycle on your machine.


Step 2: Machine Wash

Select the normal cycle then add the appropriate amount of our deep cleaning Signature Detergent. Always check manufacturer tags for any special recommendations prior to washing.


Step 3: Dry

We generally recommend air tumbling fabric shower curtains on a low heat setting. For more delicate curtains, hang dry instead in the bathroom. We like to set up a fan nearby when drying items in the bathroom to increase airflow!

For Plastic/Vinyl Shower Liners


Step 1: Remove Hooks

Take your shower curtain off the rod and remove all the hooks.


Step 2: Treat Stains

If your curtain is heavily soiled, remove stains with Stain Solution or dish soap. We recommend scrubbing away any heavy buildup prior to washing with a sponge or cleaning brush.


Step 3: Machine Wash

Yup! Your plastic or vinyl shower curtain can go in the washing machine! Use a capful of Signature Detergent and spin on a normal setting with warm to cool water. Avoid using a hot water setting if possible.


Step 4: Dry

Shake it out, then hang your curtain to dry. Never put it in the dryer, as this may cause the curtain to become misshapen or melted.


Step 5: Maintain

Because mildew breeds in damp, warm areas, it’s important to keep things dry. After showering, keep the shower liner inside the tub and the curtain outside of it so that air can move between the two. Then crack open a window or turn on a fan to allow moisture to escape from the bathroom.

Keep it clean! Regularly maintain bathroom tub and shower surfaces like stone and tile by swiping away dirt and grime with a few spritzes of Surface Cleaner, infused with bio-based ingredients for a beautiful clean.

For Shower Doors

Step 1: Mix Your Solution

Create a 50/50 solution of plain white vinegar and hot water, then mix in an all-purpose cleaning solution.


Step 2: Scrub & Spray

Saturate the shower doors and let sit for 15-20 minutes, then scrub with a scrub brush or lint-free cleaning cloth. Rinse clean with plain water. For heavy buildup, repeat the application process as needed.
