Gwen and Lindsey don’t just live clean in the literal sense. They also strive towards a balanced, healthy lifestyle at home. From their relaxation rituals to the foods they eat, both agree harmony comes to those who make it a priority and they’re sharing their favorite tips here.
LINDSEY’S LIVING LOW-TECH…
The road to balancing work and a family of four is leading Lindsey back to less “tech time” at home, along with rediscovering “me time” – from fitness to long baths.
1. DANCE CARDIO | BODY BY SIMONE
Lindsey loves to dance so this workout never feels like work. She also likes the way the routines help her shed pounds while strengthening and lengthening her body. Getting the heart rate up is key!
2. LIQUID CHLOROPHYLL | NOW FOODS
Lindsey’s all about chlorophyll for its long list of health benefits including liver detox, immune support, hair and skin regeneration, and digestive care. She adds it to fresh green juice with a little apple for sweetness.
3. DRY SALT THERAPY | BREATHE SALT ROOMS
This Himalayan Salt Room is a favorite of Lindsey’s for its healing properties on the skin and repository support. She always leaves feeling recharged inside and out, especially during allergy season.
4. COCONUT SOAK | HERBIVORE BOTANICALS
After she tucks her kids in, Lindsey likes to retreat to her tub for some Zen time to herself. The hot bath helps her clear her head for bed and this hydrating soak from Herbivore Botanicals is the perfect accompaniment. It smells great too!
5. ALARM CLOCK | TIFFANY & CO.
Lindsey’s unplugging as much as possible to find balance. She recently got an old-school alarm clock, so she can avoid late night emails and get better sleep. The next step for her is uninterrupted workouts, only allowing herself an iPod for music – she misses the Walkman days!
6. HEALTHY MEALS | LINDSEY’S HOME
The Boyd household has a boring dinner menu, albeit healthy. Meals are very clean with a basic protein, lots of veggies, and a little starch like quinoa or brown rice. It’s still yummy, and sticking to this plan allows the family to splurge one or two times each week! A quick tip: cook vegetables in low sodium chicken broth for a little added flavor. Plus, it will make you AND your kids crave greens – even kale.
GWEN’S GETTING WELL...
On a brief hiatus from her regular, rigorous fitness routines due to an injury, Gwen’s focusing on nourishing her body with whole foods and organic beauty products.
1. WATER + LIME | COURTESY OF JAMES
Each morning, Gwen’s husband James prepares them mugs of warm water and lime, inspired by a ritual that was practiced on their Thai Spa holidays. The combination aids digestion.
2. PHYSIOTHERAPY | KIMA WELLNESS
Gwen’s taking a hiatus from her fitness routine and working with the team at Kima Wellness to address some body damage issues and mobility. She’s also focused on fine-tuning her posture so she can maintain a strong stance for years to come.
3. FRANKINCENSE & MYRRH OILS | DOTERRA
With guidance from her physical therapist, Gwen has started incorporating frankincense and myrrh oils into her daily routine for relief on her neck, shoulders, and hands.
4. INFRARED SAUNA | JACUZZI
Gwen likes to sweat it out, purging toxins, and enjoying an endorphin rush with a one-hour infrared sauna session. Her goal is one session every two weeks so she’s dreaming of a home spa unit of her own.
5. ARGAN OIL | MOROCCAN ELIXIR
Gwen’s not a fan of body cream, but loves this alternative – Argan oil. Her holistic doctor turned her onto the oil and she likes to use it straight out of the shower.
6. MAYO & DRESSINGS | WHOLE 30
Gwen did the Whole30 last year and now she’ll never go back to store bought mayo or salad dressings. Husband James and her each tackle a batch that lasts a week (he does the mayo, she does the dressing). The secret dressing ingredient = mustard powder for a flavor kick!
