Choose Your Products, and Processes, Carefully
When it comes to washing wool, not all products are created equally. The Laundress products are formulated to remove stains and dirt, while being incredibly gentle on your most treasured pieces. Follow each step for the best results possible.

Handwashing is always the best and safest method for washing woolens.

Draw a Bath: Add two capfuls or a squirt of PH neutral Laundress Wool & Cashmere Shampoo to a washbasin or sink filled with cool water.

Go Under: Submerge your items and gently agitate them with your hands to evenly distribute soap and water. Soak for up to 30 minutes

Rinse Clear: Run cool water through items until rinse water is no longer soapy. Do not wring. Instead, gently press the water out of your items between your hands or against the sink.

Note: If there is color in the water, don't worry! It's normal. The yarn dye is simply releasing color and you will not notice any loss of color after the wash is complete.

No-Rush Drying: Hang to dry and never use the dryer for woolens. Avoid exposing the garment to direct sunlight and heat sources, such as the radiator, because they can shrink or damage wool.

Quick Drying: Lay the item flat on a towel. With the item in its original shape, roll it up in the towel (like a sleeping bag) to remove the excess water.

Steam It Up: Ironing can crush or flatten the natural pile of the yarns. Instead steam to remove wrinkles, odors, bacteria. Don't have a steamer handy? Use an iron set to the "steam" setting, hovering over the item - do not make contact.

Stay Fresh: Spritz The Laundress Wool & Cashmere Spray between wearing and washing. It's a safe non-toxic, allergen-free fabric spray that naturally repels bugs and moths.

Brush For Beauty: Use The Laundress Cashmere Brush between wears to remove lint, fuzz, and hair and release natural oils that rejuvenate yarns.

Lend Hems A Helping Hand: Spot treat pant hems with The Laundress Wash & Stain Bar to remove dirt, mud, slush, salt, or any other unsightly discoloration. Simply lather the bar with tepid water and gently work it into the fabric. Lift the stain by dabbing the area with a damp Lint-Free Cleaning Cloth.

Soak Up The Suds: Remove soap and dirt with a damp cloth. Do not use paper towels and certain types of sponges because they may leave lint or residue behind. We use our Lint-Free Cleaning Cloth. Repeat this process until satisfied. Be sure to remove all soap.

Fast Freshening: Freshen between trips to the dry cleaners with The Laundress Wool & Cashmere Spray. It's safe, non-toxic, and allergen-free and naturally repels bugs and moths.

Brush Strokes: Use The Laundress Clothing & Upholstery Brush between wears to remove lint, fuzz, and hair.

Wrinkle-Free: Spritz items with Crease Release to relax fibers and remove wrinkles without weakening fabrics.

The Laundress Product of Perfection

While other popular wool washes have a high PH level that is harsh on wool and cashmere, The Laundress Wool & Cashmere Shampoo is pH neutral to protect delicate yarns. Plus, it can be used on every type of delicate fabric.
