Did you know...
Contrary to popular belief, most fading occurs in the dryer, not the washer. Denim is best washed inside out. This prevents abrasion, which increases color longevity and preserves elasticity. Always wash with like colors.
For white denim, add a capful of All-Purpose Bleach Alternative and launder in hot water.
To remove odors, prewash or presoak with Scented Vinegar. Apply vinegar directly on the affected areas and work it into the fabric.
Wash new dark or colored denim alone in cold water to prevent issues with dye transfer on other items.
Color is best maintained by not using the dryer, so it is best to hang dry.
Prior to altering and hemming, wash and dry at a high temperature to maximize the shrinkage, ensuring proper fit and length.
The ideal frequency of washing denim is a personal preference. Avoid washing to maintain a “perfect, worn-in” feel, or launder to restore the fit of jeans.
