Weekend Travel Series: Nantucket

Jul 22, 2016

When The Laundress ladies do Nantucket, they’re hitting up all of the quintessential shops, eateries, and activities. From indulging in the freshest seafood to setting sail, here’s what’s on their list of must-dos.

Where To Stay

When staying in Nantucket, always aim to book a place on the water for the full experience! White Elephant and Wauwinet are two of the most desirable inns in town as they are both beachfront and a short walking distance from downtown.

What To Eat

Seafood is Nantucket's specialty and American Seasons and CRU have some of the tastiest dishes around. Located right on the waterfront, CRU serves up everything from Crispy Fluke Sandwiches for brunch to Flounder Meuniere and Nantucket Lobster Roll for dinner.

Where To Shop

Lindsey's former boss at CHANEL owns Weatherly Design, a community resource for custom interior design and decorating and all tailoring needs. Another fun shop is The Skinny Dip which stocks "a mix of men's and women's brands that have a strong tie to New England while giving a nod to surf culture." Gwen's particularly excited as they will soon be carrying BASK Toweling Blazers! Follain is also a favorite for picking up the highest performing specialty skincare, hair care, and cosmetic products.

What To Do

Everyone rides bikes around the island and to the beaches and Young's Bike Shop is one of the most well-known spots for rentals! At the end of the day after sunset, it's nice to walk along the marina and see the beautiful sailboats and yachts that are docked at Nantucket Boat Basin Marina.

Siasconset, once a historic fishing village, is part of the island but a little further out. It's a great place for a day trip with a quieter beach and great walking path to see all the homes. This part of the island also has a very well-known, elite golf club called the Sankaty Head Golf Club.
