I am The Laundress | Courtney Adamo

Sep 27, 2016

Courtney Adamo is a mother, business owner, and world traveler. Together with her husband Michael, they sold their home in London and set out to travel the world with their four children. They embarked on a worldwide tour she’d dreamed about as a young child, taking them through Brazil, Uruguay, Argentina, Chile, New Zealand, Australia, Japan, Sri Lanka, Italy, France, Portugal, and on a road trip through California. When Courtney’s not traveling with her family, she’s managing Babyccino Kids, an international lifestyle website for modern moms she started with two friends over five years ago. Courtney’s done laundry in some interesting spots throughout the world, but here she shares insight into her experiences at home.

My most laundered item is…
Children’s clothing. With four children, the dirty laundry is never-ending!

My favorite laundry tip or trick is…
To let sunshine remove stubborn stains. This worked particularly well in Australia.

The most important laundry tip I learned growing up was…
To wash stains quickly, soaking the item before you put it in the washing machine.

I make laundry an enjoyable task by…
Getting the kids to help hang clothing on the line and then choosing a sunny spot to do the folding.

My proudest laundry victory is…
Having just taken a year-long trip around the world with my husband and four children and never running out of clean clothes (I mastered the art of hand-washing anywhere!).

My favorite Laundress product is…
The Delicate Wash. So many of my dresses are made from delicate fabrics, so I try to use gentle soaps and detergents.

I used to be afraid to wash…
Wool jumpers (afraid to shrink them!), but I’ve found my way with this.

My laundry room is…
One of the most important rooms in our house! Unfortunately, I don’t have one in our current flat, but when we renovated our previous home I insisted on adding an extension off the back simply to make space for a washer, dryer, and a place to do the ironing. It had big windows overlooking our garden, so I could keep an eye on the kids while I did the wash.
