Keeping fit from head to toe is a sweaty job. While you lengthen, strengthen, and elongate, bacteria and unsavory smells can creep into your most used gear. Follow our tips for keeping things fresh in your quest for fitness.

SPIN SHOES & SNEAKERS

Sweat usually signals a great workout, but can leave your shoes with an unwanted stench. Eliminate odors with these tips.

CLEANING TIPS

Fill a spray bottle with ½ cup Scented Vinegar and spray the insides of shoes generously. Vinegar acts as a natural disinfectant and our scented version won’t leave one off-putting smell in place of another. After letting the vinegar sit for 5-10 minutes, dampen a Lint-Free Cleaning Cloth with warm water and gently wipe the insides of the shoes. Allow to air dry.

For ongoing odor management, spray the inside of shoes with Sport Spray. The antibacterial properties add scent while removing odors. You can spray after each use to keep odors at bay.

BOXING GLOVES

Bacteria and odors love to live in boxing gloves due to their lack of ventilation. Knock out these unwanted guests by giving gloves a deep clean and routine maintenance to keep smells at bay.

CLEANING TIPS

Mix ½ cup Scented Vinegar with ½ cup water in a spray bottle. Spritz the inside and outside of your gloves to remove bacteria and neutralize odors. Afterwards, wipe the outside of your gloves with a Lint-Free Cleaning Cloth. To dry the insides, stuff with dry paper towels or Lint-Free Cleaning Cloths or dry with a blow-dryer. For ongoing maintenance, spray after each use with Sport Spray. Cleaning after each use is necessary to maintain freshness.

For hand wraps, soak in hot water and a half capful of Bleach Alternative for 5-10 minutes the rinse with cold water. Lay your wraps to air dry.

HELMETS

Helmet head isn’t your only concern when biking your way through mountain trails and city streets. When headcheese strikes, turn to these steps.

CLEANING TIPS

First, pre-treat soiled straps and interior helmet pads by lathering a Wash & Stain Bar in warm water then rubbing the areas gently.

Next, fill a wash basin with warm water and one capful of Sport Detergent. Soak the helmet for a few minutes. Then, using a Lint-Free Cleaning Cloth, gently wipe down soiled areas. Rinse the helmet and allow to air dry. For on the spot deodorizing, use Sport Spray after each use.

GYM BAGS

As the main carry all for sweaty clothes, dirty shoes, and damp towels, your gym bag can quickly become a breeding ground for bacteria.

CLEANING TIPS

Remove the contents from your bag. Treat any soiled areas by applying Stain Solution and gently working into the material with a Stain Brush. If the bag is nylon, cotton, or synthetic fiber (which most bags are), it can be machine washed using Sport Detergent formulated specifically for high-performance fabrics. If not, fill a wash basin with warm water and one capful of Sport Detergent. Submerge your bag and allow to soak for 5-10 minutes. Empty the basin and rinse the bag with cold water. Allow the bag to air dry.

YOGA & FITNESS MATS

Don’t let odors creep into your down dog moments by keeping your mat clean. Yoga mats love to hold onto germs from sweat and constant contact with hands and feet. Maintain balance with these easy steps.

CLEANING TIPS

Wipe away residue with our Lint-Free Cleaning Cloths and Scented Vinegar. Simply wet a cleaning cloth with the Scented Vinegar solution and wipe your mat top to bottom. You can hang the mat or lay it flat to dry.

When a deep cleaning is necessary, you can wash your yoga mat on a warm, delicate cycle using Sport Detergent. For day to day maintenance, fill a spray bottle with Scented Vinegar and spray your mat after each use. The vinegar will combat bacteria and odors and the No. 247 smell will keep the “vinegary” smell away.
