last resorts for silk items

The Solution

Let?s face it, we?ve all been there. When things like rust, nail polish, permanent marker, and superglue strike? most people are ready to just throw in the towel. When you find yourself desperate in a do-or-die situation, don?t toss the item yet. We have a few last-ditch efforts to try, because ? well ? it doesn?t hurt to try before you ditch!

On Silk, Silk Blends, Silk-Like & Delicate Synthetics

Apply product(s): Apply Stain Solution directly to the affected area.

Work the stain: Work the solution into the fabric using your finger or the Stain Brush.

Sometimes extreme situations call for even more extreme measures. Please note, we cannot guarantee the safety of your item when using the below methods.

Rust: Try soaking the stain in lemon juice with salt, Scented Vinegar, or an industrial-strength rust remover (such as Rust Away ).

Nail polish: Place the stained item face down on a Lint-Free Cleaning Cloth. Blot with non-acetone nail polish remover.

Permanent marker: Lay the item flat, and place a Lint-Free Cleaning Cloth underneath the stain to prevent ink from transferring. If the ink stain is still wet, dab dry with a Lint-Free Cleaning Cloth. Apply a generous amount of rubbing alcohol to the stain and let sit for 15 minutes. Dab again with the Lint-Free Cleaning Cloth.

Superglue: Allow the Superglue to dry before attempting to remove. Use a blunt object to scrape away as much glue as you can. Dab the stain with turpentine paint thinner. The adhesive between the fabric and the glue will start to dissolve. Continue dabbing until the stain is completely softened, then follow with Stain Solution .

Reapply or repeat as needed: If the stain is not completely gone, repeat this process until satisfied.

Pour water on the stain: For added cleaning power, put the affected area under the faucet and let the pressure of the cool to warm water help work the stain.

Reapply or repeat as needed: If the stain is not completely gone, repeat this process until satisfied.

Soak up to 30 minutes: Soak the item in a basin filled with cool to warm water. To remove odors, add cup of Scented Vinegar to the basin. Never soak silk for longer than 30 minutes.

Launder the item: Wash according to our instructions.

Donate: If it?s still not clean, keep it green! Consider avoiding landfills by donating your item ? one person?s trash is another person?s treasure.
