Did you know it can take 500 years for a disposable diaper to biodegrade in a landfill? Multiply that number by the number of diapers a baby goes through every day and you have a big, stinking problem! Here's the dirt-cheap alternative: cloth diapers, largely regarded as the most eco-friendly option, recently got a makeover of their own. Many of today's cloth diapers are designed to fit snugly, and with The Laundress' eco-friendly fabric care products cleaning them is a breeze. Here's how:
Token Tools:
The Laundress Baby Detergent, The Laundress Stain Solution, The Laundress All-Purpose Bleach Alternative, The Laundress Stain Brush
Rinse (really) well: Before treating any stains, rinse the soiled cloth diaper to make sure all unmentionables are fully removed!
Single out every spot: Apply Stain Solution, an eco-friendly, allergen-free and color-safe stain remover, directly to heavily stained areas and sprinkle our oxygen-based All-Purpose Bleach Alternative on the solution to create a powerful paste. Work this solution into the fabric using an old toothbrush or a Stain Brush. For added cleaning power, pour boiling water from a kettle onto the affected area. The force of pouring water helps to do the work.
Soaking is the solution: Soak the cloth diaper in a basin filled with hot water and one capful All-Purpose Bleach Alternative for at least 30 minutes. If stains aren't completely gone at the soak's completion, repeat this process until satisfied.
Note for urine stains: If the item is stained with urine, before following the above steps, soak the diaper in a basin of hot water mixed with our All-Purpose Bleach Alternative. This will break down the uric acid to remove the odor.
It all comes out in the wash: Machine wash on the Normal cycle in hot water with Baby Detergent, our gentle formula just for little ones that removes the toughest of stains.
Dare to dry: Air dry.
