How To Clean Santa's Suit

Spreading holiday cheer can be a messy job! From cookie batter, to tree trimmings, to spilled eggnog, a "Santa suit" can take a beating. Don't let this ruin your Christmas spirit and turn you into the Grinch or a Scrooge. Follow this guide to clean and preserve your Santa suit for many Ho ho ho-lly Jolly Christmases to come.

Gather These Tools: Stain Solution, Wash & Stain Bar, Lint-Free Cleaning Cloths, Steamer, Fabric Fresh, Clothing & Upholstery Brush

STEP 1:

Prep & Pretreat

For cookie crumbs, chocolate calamities, and other tannin stains, apply Stain Solution directly to the affected area and work into the fabric using your finger.

Remove soap and suds by gently blotting the area with a clean, damp Lint-Free Cleaning Cloth. Be sure to completely remove soap and suds to avoid water marks. Follow with a clean, dry Lint-Free Cleaning Cloth to blot the area dry.

For milk mishaps, chimney soot smudges, tree sap splotches, and other sticky stains, lather the Wash & Stain Bar with lukewarm water and gently work into the fur trim.

STEP 2:

Steam & Sleigh

Steam each piece with a steamer like the Jiffy Steamer. Not only does steaming safely release wrinkles, the heat from the steamer also kills most bacteria, mites, and other odor sources without damaging the fabric.

STEP 3:

Freshen Up

Spread the holiday cheer, not funky smells, during your Christmas Eve journey around the world. In between washing and wearing, spray the suit with Fabric Fresh Classic. The plant-derived properties actually help to lift, neutralize, and remove odors at the source. Be sure to address areas near the neck and underarms where perspiration is more likely to occur (from hauling all those presents, of course!).

STEP 4:

The Final Touches

Using The Clothing & Upholstery Brush, give the suit a good once-over to remove lint, pet hair or reindeer fur, fuzz, and dust. If possible, hang the suit outside where it can breathe, but avoid hanging in direct sunlight.
