1. SUGAR COOKIES | SOUTHERN LIVING
There is no holiday without a Christmas sugar cookie! Gwen and Lindsey celebrate family traditions by making these classic treats every year.
Green Christmas Trees are a favorite of Lindsey?s (as a child and adult), and have now become her kids? favorite! As this year will be Lindsey?s first Christmas without her beloved grandmother ? who would make cookies for family and friends every year ? she will be continuing the tradition by making these cookies with her children.
Gwen?s family cookie cutters include an ode to the cheese state, along with stockings and canes! She skips the icing in favor of colored sugars bought over the summer while vacationing. This year, she?ll be experimenting with a variety of flavor extracts for a twist!
2. CRANBERRY SAGE PIE | FOUR & TWENTY BLACKBIRDS
Gwen's husband James is the pie guy and this one is a very festive hit! Perfect for the season, Gwen highly recommends taking it to the next level with fresh cranberries from the farmers market.
3. CHRISTMAS KRINGLE | BENDTSEN'S BAKERY
During a recent trip to the motherland, Gwen gave a nod to her family?s Wisconsin heritage by enjoying a Christmas Kringle at the renowned Bendtsen's Bakery in Racine. She was sure to stock up at "Kringleville" and shipped boxes to family and cousins to enjoy. The cranberry with icing is particularly festive!
4. CHEX MIX | HALF BAKED HARVEST
Balance the sweet with some savory! In addition to homemade candy and cookies, Lindsey's grandmother was sure to make her infamous homemade chex mix for the holidays.
