Nylon is commonly associated with parachutes, tights, and fishing nets, but this super durable fabric is making its way into dresses, shorts, backpacks, athletic wear, and much more. Because of its durability, nylon fabric is easily washed at home using everyday laundering methods. When washing everyday nylon fabrics, always pretreat stains before laundering. Focus on susceptible areas such as underarms, necklines, and cuffs that are prone to odors and yellowing.
Stain Solution is optimized for pretreating stains on washable fabrics. It features a powerful triple-enzyme blend that targets stubborn stains, both old and new. Always test in an inconspicuous spot before applying to fabrics.
Once you've pretreated your nylon garment, proceed with washing or soaking.
Hand washing is always the best method for washing delicate nylon items, such as hosiery or blouses.
- First, add Delicate Wash to a washbasin or sink filled with cool water.
- Submerge the nylon item and gently agitate the water with your hands to evenly distribute soap. Soak for up to 30 minutes.
- Rinse well by running cool water through the item until the water is no longer soapy. Do not wring. Instead, press the water out of the nylon item.
- Always air dry. Delicate nylon typically dries quickly.
For durable nylon clothing such as outerwear or athleticwear, machine wash instead! Always check tags to ensure water temperature recommendations before machine washing nylon. For best results, wash like colors and fabrics together.
- Place your nylon garment inside a Mesh Bag for protection as needed (great for anything with nylon mesh or garments like strappy bras).
- Add Signature Detergent to your machine's dispenser according to load size.
- Select a warm or cool wash temperature and a normal spin cycle.
- Remove from the machine promptly to cut down on wrinkling.
Depending on how delicate your garment is, nylon can be tumble dried on low, or line dried. Always air dry more delicate nylon items, like hosiery.
To cut down on static when machine drying synthetics like nylon, add Wool Dryer Balls to your machine.
Avoid direct sunlight when air drying for best results. To reduce wrinkles, remove from the dryer while still damp or line dry.
Steam nylon after washing to remove wrinkles between wear.
