Ask the Laundress
I recently purchased an arm chair with 100% linen upholstery for my daughter's room. Do you have any tips or product recommendations for cleaning baby stains (milk, spit up, etc.)?
Thank you for reaching out. When cleaning upholstered furniture, I recommend the spot treating with The Laundress Wash & Stain Bar. Simply lather the bar with water and work it into the soiled area of the fabric. Follow by wiping the suds clean with a damp Laundress Lint-Free Cleaning Cloth and dabbing with a new, dry cleaning cloth to absorb water and dry.
Please note that when spot treating, there is a chance of water marks when dry. Prior to treating, you should perform a water test. To perform a water test simply wet a small, discreet area of the cover, such as the seam line, and wait to see if there is a water mark left behind once dry.
If your upholstered furniture is in need of an allover clean, I suggest consulting a professional cleaning company that will steam clean your furniture. If you’re located in New York, you can try reaching out to Upholstery Cleaning New York as they offer this service.
